The Hollyford Track is the ideal walk for those who want to mix glamour and tramping, or “glamping” as this has become known. It’s also the ideal walk for honeymooners who want to want to combine the challenge of a walk through lush rain forest with the comfort of all inclusive lodge accommodation each night.
After a briefing session in Queenstown you’re off on the bus to the trek start point. There's three days and two nights to traverse the dense Fiordland forest to reach the spectacular Martins Bay. Panoramic views and changing altitudes aren’t so much on the programme as the walk follows the mostly flat Hollyford valley to the sandspit at Martins Bay on the last day. But an absolute immersion in nature with professional guides is guaranteed and your comfort is assured with well-heated lodges, hot showers and all bedding provided as well as pack transfers, hearty dinners, good quality wine, sumptuous breakfasts and a drying room to dry your hiking gear if the conditions are wet. If your wet weather gear isn’t 100% waterproof a rain jacket & backpack with be lent to you. The Hollyford is in the heart of the wettest region in New Zealand and the magically green thick forest is testament to the abundance of water that flows from the skies.
On the last day you’ll discover Martins Bay and its impressive sandspit. Included with the walk is a jet boat trip on the Hollyford river and across Lake Mackerrow and the grand finale a helicopter transfer to Milford Sound from where you catch the bus back to Queenstown.
Thanks for your arrangements for our trip to New Zealand, Carolyn. What a fabulous place and great people! The b&bs were terrific, particularly Carol and Craig in Lake Tekapo. T... - John Larson, USARead all reviews
